How are you? I'm fine. Thank you

lalala..
going to watch hancock later
yay!
.
this holiday has been spent wastefully
all spending and no earning
outflow, no inflow
.
at least i got my pr application settled
finished my ureca report
settled things i should settle
so now i am in a state of tranquility
although still hoping for a part-time-easy-money job
.
yesterday called back home
talked to mom n dad
heard a very good news!!
heighten my happiness level from 10/10 to 15/10...
.
if only life is so simple.

take a deep breath

some things are better left untold
some things are better told as lies
but sometimes you just dunno what to do
because everything you do, you end up hurt
and hurt others too...
in dilemma...
like the donkey story my dad once told me

but everything you do, you should never lie to yourself

when you know that someone is moving further away from you
you tend to see their good points
and they keep coming back rushing through your consciousness
to make you feel guilty
and dun wanna let go...
and wonder "maybe i was wrong.."

take a deep breath, lita!

Joke of the day:

A guy walked into a bar one day and said to the barman, "Give me six double vodkas."
The barman says, "Wow! you must have had one hell of a day."
"Yeah, I just found out my oldest son is gay."

The next day, the same guy came into the bar and asked for the same drinks. When the bartender asked what the problem was today the answer came back,
"I just found out that my youngest son is gay, too!"

On the third day, the guy came into the bar and ordered another six double vodkas. The bartender said, "Jesus! Doesn't anybody in your family like women?"
The man downed the first drink and shook his head, "Yeah, my wife!"

once in a lifetime

there's juz too much to blog about
that i dunno wat to blog about..

hmm..
im feeling different these days
listening to real adults makes me think a bit deeper
maybe im going to be an adult soon..

and i realised that today is father's day!
sometimes i wish i could do anything to make my parents happy
or proud
so i massaged my dad n mom often these days
seeing them getting older makes me kinda sad
wish i could ease their burdens even just a bit
let's be a good girl tomorrow onwards!

after 2 weeks 3 days at medan
talked to siblings, relatives and old friends
i learned tt many medanese gals are materialistic and two-faced
while the guys are cocky and such a snob...
(which i often heard of but seldom witnessed)
i hope i am not turning into them
and i hope my friends arent like tt...

and this sem my results are bad..
nothing to brag at all.. =)
but it's fine
many people have consoled me..
including myself..

PS. Happy Wedding Day (03.06.08) to my eldest bro who's currently on honeymoon.. =)
Wish you a lifetime of happiness. =)

happy always!

26 May 2008

idle

i've consumed almost all my fave food once since im back
so im quite bored now..

waiting for bro's wedding to arrive
cleaning up the house
helpin mom with household chores
practising a song over n over again
met up with frens
trying to be creative
'basa basi' with relatives

so now im motivated to learn things, ie
photography
cooking
perhaps i should go n learn driving or knitting
hahaha..
plans will always be plans..

i think i want to earn lotsa $ in near future
suddenly feel that being poor is so uncomfortable
after watching indo tv channels
demonstration and riots
poverty here and there
crimes and social disorder
economic dependency..

ok i shall eat my lunch now..
i helped with the cutting of tomatoes and carrots..hahaha..
a great start for my 'learn cooking' plan..

22 May 2008

home sweet home

and now i am back at home
yes. in medan.
no other word to explain but 'happy'
and i never have a chance to feel hungry at all
always fed with food incessantly
oh..i am really going to get fat
just like in sher's dream.
haha

the riots and demonstrations (rising oil price) somehow spoilt my mood
burning of this and that
the road was blocked and stuff
but it's okay now.

i talked to ajo, the sate padang guy
and asked him why are all the sate padang sellers called 'ajo'
and he said that 'ajo' means 'brother= abang'
ooooouu..now i know

btw my house has been upgraded
it is nice to engage new environment once in a while
new colour, new arrangements, new furniture, new TV set.
wohoo.. and of course this was done only coz my bro is getting married

oh..and i met old friends yesterday and gg to meet them again tml
had a nice sit down chat and gossips.
then one friend puked at some restaurant.
ehmm, she wasnt feeling well..
hope the cleaners didnt mind all the vomit
(sorry to disgust those who were eating too)
get well soon, dear... =)

ok and now i should watch Man U vs Chelsea championship..
tata..

18 May 2008

beyond the small country

olala..i'm now in KL
having nothing to do is really fun
wake up whatever time i want
sleep whenever i wish

and now i am going genting highlands
since it's too late to go theme park now
so should i gamble?

shopping was fun too in KL
things are really cheaper down here
the night always feels young
2am and the streets are still hectic
ate naan cheese at 3 am on my 1st day
a sign that i am gg to gain weight soon

bye.

16 May 2008

the countdown

5 hours 42 minutes and 28 seconds more..
and then i will head out of singapore

but in the meantime
i should continue packing
go and withdraw some cash
charge my phone battery to its fullest
and clean my table
and keep all the clothes that are still suntanning outside

sometimes i wonder
am i dead inside?
yup, juz like chandler...
that bad that we have to read chicken soup for the soul
juz to check whether a drop of tear could appear
aaahh..maybe im thinking too much

ok back to packing..
adios.
au revoir.
sayonara.
再见!
goodbye.

if loving you is wrong, then i don't want to be right...

feeling ecstatic
excited
going to malaysia tonight
and going home monday
but haven't done packing
any helpers??

will be leaving s'pore for a month
wont be seeing many people for some time
i will miss them...i think
hope everyone will take good care of themselves
coz i will definitely..

emptying my stomach now
and soon stuff it with:
mom's cook
the deliciously unhealthy indonesian streetfoods
sate padang, nasi padang, kwetiau, duck beehoon, martabak, sup sumsum

and so i miss my dad, mom, and bros..
and on my last day in s'pore i'm addicted to crosswords
what's tt all about?
.
and have i mentioned about the sadistic death of the baby birds?
the cat ate them!!
i guess it cant be helped...
that's juz the foodchain taking place..
no wonder heaven is filled with happy birds flying freely
and not cats
.
something new i learnt recently
i learnt how to ride a motorbike..
the big one like harley
and so my feet can touch the ground
thrilling and almost hit a van and people
how brave was i huh?
.
oh..and i learnt a little bit of tennis too..
i guess the old saying is true
it's never too late to learn..

a summary of my life this weekend:

friday : cee outing
a very happening nite indeed
ate yummy indonesian food
watched harold n kumar and laughed out loud
took over 400 pics altogether

somehow love this photo a lot
looks like the cover of a CD album
photo taken by: stanley goh
.
saturday,
another outing
someone's birthday treat
delicious but challenging at the same time
struggled with the yummy ribs
thanks, mr tani! =)
oyar..and happy birthday in advance!
a grande looking temple that looked juz like a painting
couldnt resist
juz had to capture it in camera and post it here
.
rows and rows of lanterns with wishes
for success, wealth, health
i guess vesak day is near

.

sunday night: CEE dinner and dance
elegant 8 course dinner at meritus mandarin hotel
plus i ate the portion for 2 people
4 bowls of sharkfin!!
how greedy could i get?

.

something funny that Phoebe said:

"If you want me to e-mail you about my upcoming shows, please give me some money so that i can buy computer."

09 May 2008

and so i am officially free

a mission: how to save a bird
"hang on tight, Chandler"
and then he was saved.
a miracle indeed.

the end of EID: Presentation 08.05.08
"Vote for group 24!"
But in the end, didnt win enough votes to win top 10.
nevertheless , it's all over.
bonafide freedom!
no more meetings with uncooperative group mates.
no more guilt and late arrival due to oversleeping.
maybe i should still say this, thank you everyone for all the efforts!

"pegs as subject matter"
just learned this blur background effect today.

'We do not stop playing because we are old;
we grow old because we stop playing'

a hot day

Yummy-ly..had good dinner
at this Mouth Restaurant, Chinatown Point:
Sharkfin soup.
Cold Plate: Prawn, Duck, Crispy thing, Char Siew.
Vege+ Mushroom.
Steam Fish.
Roasted Chicken.
Curry Crab.
Noodle.
Mango Pudding.

Before dinner managed to clock in $35 for a meeting.
Then went for impromptu 'prawning' at japanese garden.
Caught my first prawn ever.
It was fun.
Realised that patience is indeed the key to prawning.
Plus skill, of course.

Joke of the day:

Two Govender's were sitting outside a clinic.
One of them was crying like hell.
So the other asked, "Why are you crying?"
The first one replied, "I came here for blood test"
Second one asked, "So? Are you afraid?"
First one replied, " No, not that. During the blood test they cut my finger"
Hearing this, the second one started crying & screaming.
The First one was astonished and asked other, "Why are you crying?"
The other replied, "I have come for my urine test."

art

a lot of things have happened ever since my last post.
celebrations.
birthdays.
movies.
treats.
delicious food.
prayers.
.
today is slightly different from usual.
more or less trying to be artistic.
made 2 pairs of earrings with limited resources.
took artistic pictures with the readily available subjects.
rearranged tables and put up posters.

tomorrow going for a meeting to earn a few dollars.
then eat free 9 course dinner for main comm appreciation dinner.
feel so appreciated...

then it's about time to think about EID.
only left exactly 1 week.
where are my group members?
still happily holiday-ing in KL?
having exam?
haizz..they better work hard when showtime comes.

25 April 2008

my heart goes shalalalala

exams are over...
didnt do well..
but thanks to people who have been encouraging me when i was stressed
gave me food, offered to send me back when I studied til late,
entertain me with funny sms-es.

i need my beauty sleep...
have list of thigs to do:
EID project, URECA report, apply PR,
shopping, eat good food, clean room, exercise..

now let me enjoy first...
not to offend anyone who's still struggling n studying..
peace..

the pursuit of happyness

"The happiest people in the world are not those who have no problems, but those who learn to live with things that are less than perfect.

* A group of graduates, highly established in their careers, got together to visit their old university professor.

* Conversation soon turned into complaints about stress in work and life.

* Offering his guests coffee, the professor went to the kitchen and returned with a large pot of coffee and an assortment of cups - porcelain, plastic, glass, crystal, some plain looking, some expensive, some exquisite - telling them to help themselves to the coffee.

* When all the students had a cup of coffee, the professor said: "If you noticed, all the nice looking expensive cups were taken up, leaving behind the simple and cheap ones.

* While it is normal for you to want only the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress.

* Be assured that the cup itself adds no quality to the coffee.

* In most cases, it is just more expensive and in some cases even hides what we drink.

* What all of you really wanted was coffee, not the cup, but you
consciously went for the best cups... Then you began eyeing each other's cups.

* Now consider this:
- Life is the coffee; the jobs, money and position in society are the cups.
- They are just tools to hold and contain Life, and the type of cup we have does not define, nor change the quality of Life we
live.
- Sometimes, by concentrating on the cup, we fail to enjoy the coffee
God has provided us. Enjoy your coffee!."

amazing race

last sunday went for a trip
woke up at 7am
told to bring passport
we planned to go to desaru island
so we had to take ferry from changi ferry terminal
we had to be there at 9.30am
we had to depart by 8am
but somebody was late..
so we started our journey from NTU at 8.10am
someone said "breakfast is important!"
so we queued unexpectedly long at ya kun kaya toast
by the time we got our toasts it was 8.30
.

then we headed east to Changi airport
on the way we needed petrol break
got lost for some time at bedok reservoir
from terminal 3 we took cab to the ferry terminal
we told the driver we had to catch a 10am ferry
but he drove slower than ever
cost about $12
.
when the cab stopped
i was assigned to ran as fast as possible towards the ticketing counter
so i ran..
when i reached the counter..
it was closed
the clock showed 9.50am
so i asked the officer behind
they discussed for quite some time..
then told us..sorry but the counter has closed
and the next ferry is 5.30pm
bye bye desaru island

.
we were sad
disappointed
tried to walk back to terminal 3
but on the way..it suddenly rained
hmm...
could not find any shelter
and the place was deserted
less than 7 minutes later a cab passed by
lucky..
so we took cab back to T3..
he was nice..gave us an 80 cents discount
so we spent hours not knowing what to do..
and strolled along the new terminal

it was 11am
we had our lunch at lerk thai
wanted to go johor but afraid of the checkpoint jam due to mas selamat
so "let's go batam" i suggested
so we went
took the 'penguin' ferry there
the name really lived up its legacy
the ferry was as slow as penguin
'batam fast' was much faster and efficient
.

so we are at batam
changed some rupiahs
went to waterfront
played watersports
parasailing..jetskiing..
it was refreshing

almost had an accident while jetskiing

i was on the wheel..
i turned right and
was just talking to my friend about how safe jet skiing was
when out of sudden on my left another jetski approaching
my friend was shocked and prepared to jump down
water splashing, people screaming
we missed by only an inch..
but we were drenched

.
ate coconut, spring rolls, biscuits
i was impressed by how batam was so international
everything's in S$
the city was so well- managed
the roadside was clean..
definitely much better than my city, medan

at about 5 pm we headed back to the ferry terminal
wanted to book the 6.20 pm ticket back to sg
but it was fully booked
sigh
so we took cab to another terminal
and managed to get 7.30 pm ferry back
.

we reached home at 11pm
and that is my one adventurous day
.

now, back to reality....

15 March 2008

cancelled

the cycling to ECP on Sat is cancelled
due to bad weather
but the actual reason is
low no of participants..
but it's an embarrassing excuse..
.
and now i have 1 more day to do formal report
but only 50% done so far
struggling to continue
while sherly and boonbee are sleeping soundly.
.
the birds are getting bigger
and they start to have feathers.
...

Speech by Pulitzer Prize winner: Anna Quindlen

"...You cannot be really first rate at
your work if your work is all you are..
Get a life.
A real life, not a manic pursuit of
the next promotion,
the bigger pay cheque,
the larger house
Do you think you'd care so very much
about those things if you blew an aneurysm one afternoon,
or found a lump in your
breast?
....
Get a life in which you are not alone..
Love is not leisure, it is work..
Pick up a phone.
Send an e-mail.
Write a letter.
....
I learned to live so many years ago.
I learned to love the journey, not the destination.
I learned that it is not a dress rehearsal, and
that today is the only guarantee you get.
...
telling others what I had learned.
By telling them this:
Consider the lilies of the field.
Look at the fuzz on a baby's ear.
Read in the backyard with the sun on your face.
Learn to be happy

....
And think of life as a
terminal illness,

because if you
do,

you will live it with joy and
passion as it is ought to be lived."

~nothing is permanent~

ok..this is stressful
my dearest roomie, ms Sherly Goh is so demanding
i have to blog an entry a day?
but these days i have been lucky
so i dun mind

my microbio quiz result: 88%
although i had no idea what the bacteria's names were
a. Pseudomonas spp
b. Clostridium
c. Staphylococcus
d. Desulfurobacterium
"Huhhhh?"
since i couldnt cheat (distance to next human = 2 rows back, 3 seats sideways)
so i was singing to decide on either a,b,c or d
i sang silently "Pada hari Minggu kuturut ayah ke kota...."
to double confirm i hummed "Twinkle twinkle little stars..."
both songs led me to "b"
and my friend at the back saw me did that
and he thought i'm weird
but it's okay...

Environmental processes Quiz1 result: 90%
Not too bad
considering i only studied on the quiz day
during the 3 hr break

another lucky event
a friend came into my room
i passed her her thumbdrive
then she offered me a pair of jeans
given for free by this super duper rich person
(how can people have such a big heart, i have no idea)
so i tried it on
it fitted perfectly..
and so now i have a new pair of jeans!
Thank you!!

sponsors also have been so generous the past few days
sponsored lotsa cans of Nescafe and KitKat bars
lighten my burden a lot
plus i have a friend who can actually exchange items with me
so, cee students!
lucky you..this time round the exam goodiebags will be of top quality

hopefully i can carry this kinda luck throughout
i will be very lucky if i can...

Facts:
111,111,111 x 111,111,111 = 12,345,678,987,654,321

11 March 2008

in the midst of rain

it's 3 am
and i am still awake
perhaps the 'teh peng' is keeping me awake
or perhaps it's the 1 hour nap

currently on my list:
presentation due this wednesday
report due next monday
business law interrogation next thursday
proposals due 16th march
sponsors finding due 31st march

thankfully today's meeting didnt last too long
and had a good dinner in the nice rainy weather
and i won 6-4 in a foosball game against my club's president
couldnt stop laughing during the game
my first foosball game ever...

today we had env lab
bacterial examination via MPN count
the lab technician told us to test samples
added solution drop per drop
tranferred from this bottle to another one
changed pipette for 6 times
hands so tired and numb
we struggled and finally completed it
after dropping solution to over 30 samples
"so sir, what do we do with these?"
he answered "now you can throw and wash away all the samples"
we're like "Huhh??"
all our efforts were futile.

What a Wonderful World

I see trees of green........ red roses too
I see 'em bloom..... for me and for you
And I think to myself....
what a wonderful world.

I see skies of blue..... clouds of white
Bright blessed days....dark sacred nights
And I think to myself .....what a wonderful world.

The colors of a rainbow.....so pretty ..in the sky
Are also on the faces.....of people ..going by
I see friends shaking hands.....sayin.. how do you do
Theyre really sayin......i love you.
I hear babies cry...... I watch them grow
They'll learn much more.....than I'll never know
And I think to myself .....what a wonderful world

The colors of a rainbow.....so pretty ..in the sky
Are there on the faces.....of people ..going by
see friends shaking hands.....sayin.. how do you do
Theyre really sayin...*spoken*(I ....love....you).

I hear babies cry...... I watch them grow*spoken*
(you know their gonna learn
A whole lot more than I'll never know)
And I think to myself .....what a wonderful world
Yes I think to myself .......what a wonderful world.

went back my old jc on friday

the canteen, track, the tree house, the swing, the hall
even the people did not seem to age
mr ho wei kang (maths), ms monica wong (chem), mr seet (PE), mr ho (GP)
how nostalgic....
the new principal, mr chang (he's quite friendly) said that next year VJC is celebrating its 25th
all alumni will be invited.

Friday, 7th march 2008

Yesterday was NTU open house
and i had to present my URECA poster competition in front of
5 judges who asked a lot of questions within 3 minutes,
passersby, who seemed interested but not really
friends, who are just my victims
btw, it is titled 'Arsenic Removal from groundwater using Adsorptive media'
dont think my poster can win though
but then it's the experience that counts
met new people like my poster neighbours,
the professors, some people that looked familiar but i couldnt remember the names, etc

exhibition: with trieska &her poster

exhibition: with dewi and her poster

my poster

"My experience as Ms.Lita 'BUN' Lim"

Some people have been sending me pictures of me in NTU ads these days. So thanks to them i have a folder-ful of pictures that reminds me of my experience as NTU model.
